This acrylic painting of Durants Park derived from a photograph taken by the painter in March 2026. Durants Park is local to Winnie’s home and it is where she loves to go for a walk or a run in order to feel recharged in the midst of busyness of life. Being in nature uplifts her mental health and brings her close to Jesus’ creation, reminding her that God is in control of all seasons of our lives. The bare tree branches symbolise what has been lost in the past, whilst the magnolia blossoms in the centre of the painting demonstrate our eternal hope in Christ. When we fix our eyes on Jesus, we place our burdens by the foot of his Cross and let Him carry us through trials and tribulations. “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” (Psalms 46:1, NIV) God gives us hope according to His perfect will and His truth and light overcome the darkness of this world.
